REVIVE TO SURVIVE ’s goal is to minimize and reduce the environmental impact our brand has on the planet by reviving your vellies and extending their life cycle. Our mission is to move towards a more sustainable supply chain, and eventually have a 100% sustainable brand. Going against the industry standard of fast fashion, we believe in quality products and the three R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle). We have other super exciting projects on the way closing our product supply chain cycle loop and it involves upcycling!
The fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors of the earths pollution, it is right up there with fuel and agriculture, scary right? The industry is polluting our skies, water and soil through unsustainable and irresponsible manufacturing along with the disposal of billions of garments and other toxic chemicals and materials each year. Due to fast fashion trends, the industry drives manufacturers to only focus on efficiency and mass production and not consider the wellbeing, livelihood and survival of future generations.
Here are 4 facts about sustainable fashion to think about if you care about the planet:
• The fashion industry accounts for 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, this makes it the 3rd most polluting industry on the planet.
• The fashion industry produces around 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide per year— that is more than both international airlines and maritime shipping combined.
• Less than 1% of fashion materials are recycled into new clothing at the end of their life cycle.

Caring for your vellies could extend the need to be replaced and delay the need to be revived. See our care instructions below:
1. The sole of the vellies must be worn out at least 70%, indicating significant use.
2. The inner board, which is the structural component inside the shoe, should be in perfect condition and not showing any signs of wear and tear or damage.
3 The texture of the sole should be worn out between 70 to 80%.
If the vellies meet these criteria, they are eligible for resoling, and the customer will be charged R300.00 for each subsequent resole.
1.The inner board of the vellies is damaged, cracked, or torn.
2. The stitch-down, which refers to the stitching that attaches the upper part of the shoe to the sole, has come undone.
3. The outer sole is worn out and has reached the inner board, causing it to stick out.
In these cases, a full revive is required to restore the vellies to a usable condition.
Important notice: If the leather of the vellies is torn where the stitch down is, it cannot be revived.
1.Regular Cleaning: Leather can harbor dirt, grime, and bacteria if not properly cleaned. Regular cleaning and maintenance help remove accumulated dirt, sweat, and odors, contributing to better hygiene.
2.Durability: Proper care and maintenance can significantly extend the lifespan of leather products.
Regular cleaning, conditioning, and protection help prevent cracking, drying, and other forms of damage, ensuring that your leather items last longer.3.Sustainability: Caring for your leather vellies promotes sustainability by reducing the need for frequent replacements. By extending the life of your leather goods, you minimize waste and the environmental impact associated with the production and disposal of new items.
Overall, looking after your leather not only preserves its aesthetic appeal and durability but also protects your investment, enhances comfort, maintains hygiene, and contributes to sustainable practices.
