revive to survive

Be kind to planet earth, revive your vellies.

REVIVE TO SURVIVE ’s goal is to minimize and reduce the environmental impact our brand has on the planet by reviving your vellies and extending their life cycle. Our mission is to move towards a more sustainable supply chain, and eventually have a 100% sustainable brand. Going against the industry standard of fast fashion, we believe in quality products and the three R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle). We have other super exciting projects on the way closing our product supply chain cycle loop and it involves upcycling!

The fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors of the earths pollution, it is right up there with fuel and agriculture, scary right? The industry is polluting our skies, water and soil through unsustainable and irresponsible manufacturing along with the disposal of billions of garments and other toxic chemicals and materials each year. Due to fast fashion trends, the industry drives manufacturers to only focus on efficiency and mass production and not consider the wellbeing, livelihood and survival of future generations.

Here are 4 facts about sustainable fashion to think about if you care about the planet:

• The fashion industry accounts for 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, this makes it the 3rd most polluting industry on the planet.

• The fashion industry produces around 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide per year— that is more than both international airlines and maritime shipping combined.

• Less than 1% of fashion materials are recycled into new clothing at the end of their life cycle.

Clean & Care instructions for your Sapmok vellies

Caring for your vellies could extend the need to be replaced and delay the need to be revived. See our care instructions below:

  1. Remove any dust with a damp cloth.
  2. Mix 1 part mild soap – such as a facial soap, dishwashing liquid or very mild clothes detergent – with 8 parts lukewarm water.
  3. Pour a bit of the solution onto a sturdy cloth or sponge, preferably a microfibre cloth. Never put the mix directly onto the leather as this could cause over- saturation.
  4. Gently wipe the stain.
  5. Once the stain has dissolved, leave the shoes to dry naturally, away from direct sunlight.
  6. After drying, we recommend to spray the leather with leather sealant to prevent further stains. This product is oil and water repellant.
  7. Use the Sapmok leather cream to soften leather when it is old, hard and stiff. Keep in mind that any leather cream will darken the colour of the leather.
